Urban Shocker won 20 or more games in four consecutive seasons, including a league-leading 27 in 1921. In his 13 seasons, he won a total of 187 games, but he’s best remembered both for the 18-6 record he posted as a starter on the 1927 Yankees and for becoming the first deceased member of that fabled team, passing in 1928 at age 37. Here is an exceptional single-signed ball in both quality and rarity and is quite possibly the only existing sample. Shocker’s signature rates 8/9 on a near mint Official AL (B.B. Johnson) baseball with “Browns/1923” added in his hand on the south panel. The ball displays vivid stampings and is accompanied by its original box which also remains in remarkable condition and within which this magnificent orb was stored. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an impossibly rare and magnificent Shocker single!
