The well-publicized “Rumble in the Jungle” was a historic 1974 boxing event held in Kinshasa, Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo). Staged at the Stade du 20 Mai (20th of May Stadium) on the night of October 30, 1974, it pitted the undefeated world heavyweight champion George Foreman against challenger Muhammad Ali, a former heavyweight champion. Using his famous "rope-a-dope" technique, Ali would win by knockout, putting Foreman down just before the end of the eighth round. It has been called by many the greatest sporting event of the 20th century.

On-site fight programs from this monumental event are the among scarcest in the hobby. This one comes in fine shape (EX) with the black and white print still sharp and just moderate wear and handling. Written entirely in French, the coveted program has head shots of both Foreman and Ali on the cover, while the fighters' vital statistics and career records are detailed inside. Photographs of past champions are on the back cover including Joe Louis, Sonny Liston, Rocky Marciano, Joe Frazier and more. No tears or holes to be found. Minor edge wear and toning that is appropriate for the age. We realize there are several reproductions of this program in the hobby, but we are highly confident that this one is an original on-site example based on our close examination. Sourced from an overseas consignor who acquired it directly from an important Italian delegate with a very eclectic collection of historical artifacts dating to WWII.
