Beautiful 14 carat white gold 1978 Los Angeles Dodgers National League Championship Ring given to 3rd base coach Preston Gomez. 1978 would see the Dodgers again lose to the New York Yankees in the World Series 4 games to 2 for the second year in a row. This time losing 4 straight after taking the first 2. Gomez spent his entire lief in baseball, first as a player, then minor league manager, and finally major league manager an d coach. He piloted the expansion San Diego Padres (1969-72), Houston Astros (1974-75), and Chicago Cubs (1980). He continued until 2008 in the Angels organization when he was tragically killed in a car accident on the way home from spring training. Top design of ring has Dodger logo with a real diamond for the baseball on a blue stone with "National League Champions 1978" around the edge. On one side is a pair of crossed bats and ball with his #28 and a facsimile Preston Gomez autograph. Other side has Dodger Stadium scoreboard with "3-347-845" on it right above "LA" logo. Stamped "Balfour 14K" on inside. Ring size 7.
