Presented is a pair of historic figure-eight style baseballs in period maroon paint. The balls have hand-drawn gilt over red lettering listing the game scores and dates of May 6, 1878 and July 13, 1878. The overall condition of both balls is very fine, as each one maintains its excellent original surface to this day. The balls originated in the personal collection of Joe "Ubbo Ubbo" Hornung, who played in the International Association and National League during the 1870-80s.
