Football Hall of Famer O.J. Simpson was a standout running back with the Buffalo Bills who was inducted into the hallowed halls of Canton (the Football Hall of Fame) in 1985. This lot features a 1970’s Pro Cut O.J. Simpson Buffalo Bills jersey that Simpson signed and inscribed in black marker to one of his former bodyguards. The rather cryptic inscription appears on the back of the jersey – across the painted white No. “32” and continues on the white stripe around the right sleeve – and reads: “To my Friend Gerald, My Family was always safe with you!” Additional inscriptions appear on the numbers including “Thanks,” “H.O.F. 85,” “2003 YDS,” and “3X M.V.P.” His signature appears at the bottom of the number “3” on the back of the jersey.

The blue Pro Cut nylon mesh V-neck jersey features Simpson’s uniform number “32” on the front and back heat-stamped in white painted numerals outlined in red. The front left tail includes the proper “W.A. Goodman & Sons” manufacturer’s tag [size 46] complete with washing instruction included. Both short sleeves include Simpson’s “32” as well as two wrap-around white stripes also outlined in red. Across the back reads his last name – “SIMPSON” – painted in white on a blue mesh nameplate. Overall, Simpson led the league in rushing in four different seasons.

Our consignor acquired this jersey and both of O.J.'s drivers licenses listed in this auction from Simpson's former bodyguard, who is pictured with O.J. in the attached photos.
