Nice pair of Sterling silver "Gold Star" awards presented to Oscar Robertson by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association for his outstanding visiting performances in the New York City area as a star point guard for the University of Cincinnati. On January 9, 1958, just a sophomore, Oscar single-handedly outscored Seton Hall with 56 points in the Bearcats' 118-54 victory at Madison Square Garden. A year later, The Big O went for 50 points in the Holiday Festival Tournament at MSG.

The first is a silver presentation bowl neatly engraved "Oustanding Visiting Player 1957-58" with the prestigious recipient's name and school, measuring 7" in diameter and weighing 10 oz. The "Anston Sterling 242" hallmark stamp on the bottom indicates the maker is "Paul Revere." The second is a silver tray engraved "Outstanding Visiting Player 1958-59" with the prestigious recipient's name and school, measuring 10" in diameter and weighing 14.5 oz. The bottom is stamped "Sterling 884." Both pieces have no dents and show medium wear from handling and age. Includes LOA from Oscar Robertson.

PLEASE NOTE: Oscar will donate a portion of his auction proceeds to the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center and LeBow Institute for Myeloma Therapeutics at Dana Farber. This renowned cancer treatment center “provides comprehensive care to patients with multiple myeloma, including promising new therapies through clinical trials rooted in an approach that brings laboratory discoveries quickly to the clinical setting” (https://www.dana-farber.org/multiple-myeloma-program).
