Presented here is an original Type I photograph of Joe Willie Namath taken November 10, 1974, at the Yale Bowl in New Haven, Conn., in a regular-season game deemed “The Battle of New York.” Namath’s Jets prevailed, 26-20, over the Giants in the NFL’s first ever sudden-death overtime. (Previously, games tied at the end of regulation ended as such.) Namath threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns including the game-winning 5-yard TD strike to Emerson Boozer in the brand-new extra period.

Broadway Joe is shown whipping a pass in his white #12 jersey. The 8” by 10” black and white shot has a 1.25” bottom border and a blank back. There appears to be a black pen stroke on the upper middle; hard to tell through the slab if it’s on the photo or original negative. No other condition issues to speak of. Terrific action shot of the Hall of Famer gunslinger! Encapsulated as Type I by PSA/DNA.
