Jeter. Pettitte. Rivera. Posada. Those four names have gone down in Yankees lore as the greatest combination of players in its history - the “Core Four.” Contrary to the belief that the Yanks bought all their pennants, all four came up through the teams farm system and would debut during the same 1995 season. The next year the Yankees won their first World Championship since 1978 and would go on to win three more in the next five years. With the exception of Andy Pettitte, who had a short stint with Houston, the Core Four would play together for 17 consecutive seasons, giving the Yankees a consistent group of superstars unseen since the days of Ruth, Gehrig, Combs and Hoyt.
These 4” x 16” nameplates hung over the lockers of the famed “Core Four” in Yankee Stadium during the 2010 season. The MLB hologram affixed to the nameplates date these to the July 25, 2010, game against Kansas City. Jeter went 3 for 4 with a double, and Posada went hitless in the 12-6 romp over the Royals. A great display of locker nameplates representing the four players who brought World Championship baseball back to the Bronx.
Each nameplate has MLB Auth. hologram and LOA from Stiener.
