These were the boxing shoes waiting in the wings as the Fight of the Century unfolded on March 8, 1971 between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The historic battle took an enormous toll on both fighters, but for Ali there was no call for the backup shoes to ever be more than backups. Thus these Size 13 Adidas beauties show virtually no indication that they are more than 40 years old; there's not a discouraging word to be said about anything, no wear visible anywhere, including shoe bottoms or even the splashy 4-inch tassels that appear surrounding each heel (five on each). The shoes come with the original Adidas box, which not surprising hasn't muddled through the intervening years with the matchless elan of the shoes. Were it not for a certain important addition, the blue-and-white box might merely be described as Good. A black Sharpie autograph from Angelo Dundee and his inscription "Alternate Shoes, Ali-Frazier I," changes the equation just a bit.

Comes with an LOA from the Dundee Family.
