This amazing robe was worn by a 33-year-old Muhammad Ali as he entered his second tangle with Joe Bugner, a 15-round unanimous decision that fell to the Champ on June 30, 1975, in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Video and photographic research of the bout confirm Ali’s use of this subtly unique style of robe. The Large sized Everlast robe is in wonderful condition, showing appropriate fight use but remaining problem free. The fine quality satin robe has a white terry cloth lining, with "Muhammad Ali" in block letters embroidered on the back. On the right front pocket Angelo Dundee added his enormous autograph in bold black Sharpie; on the other pocket the Hall of Fame trainer wrote "Ali Fight Robe." This is truly an important artifact from the later years of Ali's legendary career with exemplary pedigree.
Comes with a handwritten note from Angelo Dundee and his son, Jim describing the robe as fight worn.
