A graduate of Long Beach Polytechnic High School, Morley Drury's finest season came in 1927 as USC’s senior captain employed his skillful passing and rushing to carry the Trojans to an 8–1–1 record. Drury led the team in scoring (76 points) and rushing (1163 yards) and won First-Team All-America honors. This lot includes a National Football Hall of Fame certificate that was awarded to Drury upon his election on August 10, 1954, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The award states: “Morley Drury, USC All America Halfback 1927, has been granted the highest honors of the National Football Hall of Fame, in recognition of his outstanding playing ability as demonstrated in intercollegiate competition, his sportsmanship, integrity, character and contribution to the sport of football, this certificate bears witness that his name shall be forever honored in the National Football Hall of Fame.” The framed item measures 19” wide by 25” high and is signed by Bill Cunningham, Chairman of the Honors Court, National Football Hall of Fame.
