Boston Celtics great Kevin McHale teamed with played fellow Basketball Hall of Famers Larry Bird and Robert Parish to form one of the greatest frontlines in the history of the NBA. Standing 6’ 10” tall, McHale's arms seemed to be everywhere on the court as he grabbed rebounds, blocked shots and pivoted at will to drop in a rainbow jumper that he perfected through the years. McHale’s hustle and determination helped bring three titles to Boston in 1981, ’84 and ’86.
This lot features one of McHale’s game worn Boston Celtics home jerseys that he donned during the mid-1980’s when the Celtics were at their best. In the NBA Finals, they defeated the L.A. Lakers in ’84 and the Houston Rockets in ’86 to firmly establish bragging rights at that time. On the jersey’s left front tail is the "Designed and Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics Medalist Sand-Knit" manufacturer’s label which includes the size (“46”). Across the front of the jersey reads the team name "CELTICS" in green tackle twill letters while he last name "McHALE” appears on the back in similar fashion. His uniform number "32" appears on both the front and back of the jersey, also in green tackle twill. Light to moderate use is evident throughout as some of the all-original letters and numbers show slight fraying. McHale earned his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999. His early career gamers are hard to find in the hobby.
