The late Mickey Mantle became a New York Yankees icon based on his thunderous home runs and boyish good looks. “The Mick” launched a total of 536 round-trippers during his prolific career with the Bronx Bombers and earned entry into Cooperstown in 1974. This lot features a pair of framed and matted Mantle-signed keepsakes. The first autographed item, which measures 12” wide by 15” high, comes from Upper Deck Authenticated (UDA). A replica of the cover of the June 18, 1956 edition of Sports Illustrated, the piece was signed by Mantle on the bottom right corner of his stoic photo in black marker. The cover lines read: “Mickey Mantle: The Year of the Slugger.” The ’56 season – in which he belted 52 home runs, drove in 130 runs and batted ,353 – marked the first of Mantle’s three different A.L. MVP winning campaigns. Includes UDA COA and matching hologram (#AAJ15507). The second piece is an autographed Mickey Mantle career stats display piece that measures 11.5” wide by 13.75” high. A perfectly scrawled Mantle autograph in black marker is located in the lower half of the display, which includes the breakdown of his 18 years of playing baseball in the Bronx, New York. It even includes a notarized signature from Kathleen Hampton, a notary public from Texas who witnessed the signature by Mantle on July 21, 1990. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
