The #1 pick of the 2001 NFL draft was an electrifying dual-threat quarterback out of Virginia Tech with skills and athleticism unlike anything ever encountered on the football field. It was an easy choice for the Atlanta Falcons as Michael Vick became the first African-American quarterback ever taken with the top pick. Vick backed up incumbent starter Chris Chandler for most of the 2001 season or came on as a change of pace option, averaging a ridiculous 9.3 yards per rush. He did start two games as a rookie winning one for his 7-9 Falcons squad, and could be seen in this Falcons helmet running circles around would-be tacklers. Vick has signed and inscribed the helmet as well. He took over as the Falcons' full-time starter in 2002 and the story of one of the most talented, controversial, and polarizing players in NFL history was about to take off.

The dirt on the facemask and marks on the shell clearly attest to the strong game use of the Riddell helmet. Vick added his signature and number '7' along with the inscription "MY GAME USED ROOKIE HELMET 2001 SEASON" in silver paint pen on the shell. The rear of the shell has Vick's number '7' decal with the USA flag and NFL logo stickers that regularly stamp official league equipment. There is a hologram from J.O. Sports inside the right ear-hole. Aside from the visible game wear, all elements of the helmet seem to be largely as-issued in problem-free condition.

Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from the J.O. Sports, Inc.

Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
