Baseball pitching icon and Ohio native Cy Young made an appearance as a guest speaker at the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio Young People's Group Meeting on May 18, 1941.
Although he was 30 years retired from pro baseball, he remained a baseball hero. Some alert young person had Mr. Young sign the program sheet that evening, ironically 81 years to the day of the kickoff of the SCP Spring Auction.
Young was inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame in 1937 and passed away in 1955. We now remember him each year when the best pitcher in each league is given "The Cy Young Award."
