Mother’s Day Weekend 2017 was a good two-day stretch for Washington Nationals slugger Bryce Harper. On Saturday, May 13 against the Philadelphia Phillies, Harper came to the plate with a man on and two out in the bottom of the ninth and the score tied at four. He promptly ended it with a two-run homer to straightaway center off Edubray Ramos to give the Nats a 6-4 walk-off win. Not a bad way to end a day that started with him signing a contract extension. He followed that up a day later – Mother’s Day – with a solo blast to deep right in the first inning of the first game of a day-night doubleheader against the Phillies. All in all, Harper went 6-for-12 over the course of all three games with two home runs and five runs batted in. The two-run, game-winning blast on May 13 marked Harper’s third walk-off hit of the season.
This lot features the very jersey that Harper was wearing over the course of those three games. Since it was Mother’s Day weekend, a salute to mom’s everywhere theme ran rampant throughout MLB clubhouses and the white National home jersey that Harper donned was part of the weekend’s special event uniforms as it boasted pink letters, numbers and patches. The white, button-down, 100% polyester home jersey (size 44) is adorned with Harper’s uniform number “34” on the mid right panel and the Nationals’ stylized “W” logo patch on the left chest, both in pink tackle twill outlined in charcoal gray. The front left tail includes proper Majestic Authentic Collection manufacturer’s tag with correct player size (44). Affixed to the jersey just beneath the manufacturer’s tag is a MLB tamper-proof hologram sticker with unique serial-numbering for authenticity verification: #JB 954864.
The left sleeve sports an official Washington Nationals embroidered stylized “W” patch in pink and gray. Sewn into the left chest is a pink Mother’s Day ribbon patch. The rear jersey collar features a sewn-in, official MLB silhouetted batter rubberized patch in three colors: pink, white and light pink. Also on the back is “HARPER” (arched across the shoulders) in sewn-in charcoal gray letters. His uniform number “34” appears in the center via eight-inch-tall pink tackle twill numbers outlined in charcoal gray. And lastly, a majestic tag with QR-barcode can be found on the lower right placket. The inner left seam of the jersey contains a washing instructions tag. The jersey reflects solid game use and carries with it a bit of Harper baseball history by virtue of his pair of home run blasts.
