According to Newport Sports Museum owner John Hamilton, “Marv Goux was the heart and soul of the USC Football team” back in the early ‘50s. An undersized linebacker for the Trojans, the man known as "Mr. Trojan" played in two Rose Bowls and helped guide the team to five national championships during his time as a USC assistant to head coaches John McKay and John Robinson before finishing his coaching career with the Los Angeles Rams. Since Goux’s passing in 2002, USC players and coaches alike often tap a concrete overhang, known as “Goux’s Gate,” as they enter the team’s practice field. This lot includes a pair of USC treasures belonging to Goux: his 1952 wool USC letterman’s sweater as well as an oversized 6’ by 5’ USC blanket. Both items feature the “SC” letters set against a sea of burgundy with light orange trim.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
