Marvin Powell is a former offensive tackle who played in the NFL for both the New York Jets and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers between 1977 and ’87. During his collegiate years he was a standout player for the USC Trojans. This lot includes a National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame certificate that was awarded to Powell upon his election on January 9, 1994. The award states: “Marvin Powell, USC, Tackle, 1974-76 has been granted the highest recognition of the National Football Hall of Fame, in recognition of his outstanding playing ability as demonstrated in intercollegiate competition, his sportsmanship, integrity, character and contribution to the sport of football, this certificate bears witness that his name shall be forever honored in the National Football Hall of Fame.” The framed certificate measures 19” wide by 25” high and is signed by both Gene Corrigan, Chairman of the Honors Court, National Football Hall of Fame, and William Pearce, former NFF Chairman of the Board.

Includes Letter of Provenance from the Newport Sports Museum.
