During his 16-year major league career, Mark McGwire was a home run hitting machine while playing for both the Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals. In all “Big Mac” launched 583 home runs with his first 220 launching while he was a member of the A’s. His two best seasons in Oakland were in 1987 when he was named the American League’s Rookie of the Year after hitting 49 round-strippers and 1996 when he hit 52 dingers. This lot includes one of McGwire’s game-worn and autographed batting helmets while with the A’s. The two-tone, green-and-yellow Rawlings helmet includes the A’s logo in the front right above McGwire’s signature in green marker against the yellow bill. The signature is slightly streaky and rates 6-7/10. McGwire's uniform No. 25 can be seen on the back of the helmet in white.
