Words cannot do justice to this delightful image of Brooklyn Dodgers rookie Jackie Robinson interacting with young fans prior to an exhibition game April 10, 1947 against the Dodgers Montreal farm club. Opening day of April 15, 1947 was just days away, when Jackie would make history.

The image, a PSA/DNA authenticated International News Photos Type I example, perfectly captues Jackie's transcendant appeal, especially to these youngsters who are blissfully oblivious to any color barrier that had existed in Major League baseball up to that point.

The reverse side of the image has the customary Type I markings, descriptions and dates, which add to the "on the verge of history" timeliness and iconic nature of this piece.

For baseball and civil rights historians this image is an incredible moment in time! Wow!
