After winning two National Championships as an All-American at "The U" in the late 1980s, defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy was selected third overall in the 1990 draft by the Seattle Seahawks and the 6' 3", 306-pounder never looked back. In his eleven seasons in Seattle, Kennedy made the Pro Bowl eight times and was 1st Team All-Pro thrice, including 1992 when he won NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors. His #96 jersey was retired by the Seahawks in 2012, the same year he was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Featured here is Kennedy's 2014 NFC Championship ring that was awarded to him by the team. Although Kennedy had been long finished with his career in Seattle, his legacy with the franchise was such that he was also awarded a 2013 Super Bowl ring the previous season. The Tiffany & Co AU585 (14K GOLD) ring is size 13 and weighs 60 grams. The Bezel of the ring reads, "SEATTLE SEAHWKS NFC CHAMPIONS" and a raised seahawk is filled with real diamonds and features a green stone for the eye.  The left shank features a raised NFC Championship trophy with three small diamonds in the middle and the NFL logo below. The right shank has a raised "KENNEDY" and the number "12" which pays homage to the famous 12th man that the fans represent with their unrelenting noisey support of the team when they play at home.  Accompanied by the original presentational box. Tiffany & Co. AU585 is stamped on the inside band and the ring is accompanied by a letter from the executor of the Cortez Kennedy estate. The Executor of Mr. Kennedy's estate's name has been redacted from the letter on this auction listing but is present on the original letter that will come with the ring.
