As a kid growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980's, who did Tom Brady look up to? This guy. Before being surpassed decades later by Brady's off the charts accomplishments, Joe Montana was perhaps the greatest quarterback of all time.
Montana was dominant throughout the 1980's and therefore his Topps 1981 rookie card is incredibly popular among fans and collectors. Strangely the Joe Montana rookie card was not released until his third year of professional play. He was a late bloomer in the NFL, but in 1981 he started every game and led the 49ers to one of its most successful seasons to date, going 13-3.
With Montana's college success at Notre Dame and Super Bowl crowns with the 49ers, this understated legend's rookie edition in a high grade is a MUST HAVE for any serious card collector.
