ake home this pair of rare 1912 Helmar Leather L4 Premiums featuring General George Washington and Native American Legend Minnehaha. These super rare 10x12" leathers were run from 1912-1914 through a special mail in offer that expired June 1, 1914. A gift slip was included with a pack of Turkish Trophies or Helmar cigarettes and were good for one-cent or could be returned for gifts that were listed on the back. Each of these leathers was good for 35 of such gift slips. Other presents included Hamilton King Girls, National Flags, Actresses, Actors, College mascots, College Shields with Seals, Baseball Players and in this case, Generals and Native Americans (Indians).

One of five military figures, Washington appears on this L4 leather in exceptional condtion. These L4's typically show tons of wear due to their odd size and shape 9.5x11.5" but this example is NM-MT and still exhibits good color on the blanket beneath Washinton's saddle. The Minnehaha is in EX condtion and shows some more wear and faded color on her illustration than the Washington. Overall exceptional pair of L4 leathers from this rare issue from the early 20th century.

Note: The Minnehaha leather is affixed to cardboard stock as previous owner had displayed.
