Offered here is a recently discovered and highly important original photograph of a minor league hopeful Jackie Robinson crossing homeplate in his Montreal Royals uniform. The photo captures Jackie touching home plate after blasting a homer off of his parent club, Dodgers while impressing the club's main decision maker, Branch Rickey. Jackie would ultimately earn a spot with the major league club and would lead the way for players of color to make the same leap soon thereafter. This highly desireable photo was taken by a Cuban photographer from Sanchez Y Cabredo at the Dodgers spring training facility in Havana in 1947. The crystal clear image has impeccable clarity with some aging cracks (invisible to the naked eye) beginning to appear throughout. The edges appear to have been cut with pinking shears. The 4.75 x 7" photo has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA in a Type I holder (84248968).
