A colorful baseball for a colorful character in baseball history! Oakland A's owner Charlie O. Finley introduced the concept of the orange baseball thinking that it might be more fan-friendly to follow the flight of the baseball. His vision was realized when then-commissioner Bowie Kuhn allowed these orange specimen's to be used during exhibition games. The fan response was mostly positive but the players shut down the optimism with their critique that the color made it difficult to capture the spin of the a pitched ball. Though we've seen some of these Official Charles O. Finley orange baseballs come to auction, we've never handled one with a rare sweet spot signature from the visionary baseball owner. Finley's black fiber tip autograph presents in 7-9/10 in our opinion and the ball itself presents in NM - MT.
