Take home this scarce Nat Hudson "Brown's Champions" 1886 subset example from the N172 Old Judge series. With an incredible grade of PSA NM-MT 8, this Hudson Portrait in Striped Cap stands alone as the highest rated example out of 19 graded in the PSA Pop Report; the next highest is EX-MT 6.

The 1-1/2" by 2-1/2" gem has a classic sepia portrait of the 19th century hurler who debuted with the St. Louis Browns in 1886 at the age of 17, going 16-10 with a 3.03 ERA in 27 starts. Husdon would lead the American Association (before it merged with the National League) in win percentage (.714) two years later with a 25-10 record and 2.54 ERA in 333 innings.

Corners are sharp, edges are smooth (apart for the bottom left perforation), print is incredibly bold and the image is crystal clear. The only issue is its slightly off-center positioning left to right. Reverse is very clean with a touch of toning on the lower right.

1887-90 OLD JUDGE N172 NAT HUDSON (PORTRAIT IN STRIPED CAP) "BROWNS CHAMPIONS" PSA NM-MT 8 - POP 1, NONE HIGHER!
