When Kansas City Chiefs selected Patrick Mahomes II with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 Draft, the young gunslinger out of Texas Tech had to wait a full season before taking over as the starting QB. He exploded on the scene as an NFL sophomore, putting up video-game numbers (50 TD passes and 5,097 yards) in Andy Reid’s high-octane offense and winning league MVP honors. Fans, teammates and even opposing players stood mesmerized by the 23-year-old’s talent, creativity and pizzazz. His third year didn’t start quite as promising, but it sure did end well. Mahomes led the Chiefs all the way to the Super Bowl where he orchestrated a thrilling 4th quarter comeback against the 49ers to give KC its second ever title.
This Chiefs white road jersey was worn by Mahomes during his 2017 rookie year. It was originally sourced through a team employee who apparently got it right from Mahomes after the season. His number “15” is sewn on the chest, shoulders and back. “MAHOMES” appears straight across the upper back on a white nameplate. All letters and numbers are done in the same red on gold tackle twill format. Red Swoosh logos are embroidered on each arm with red and gold stripes near the customized elastic sleeve ends. The ever-important Lamar Hunt AFL tribute patch is sewn on the left chest honoring the team's famous deceased owner. Proper Nike size "42" ON FIELD "Q-BK" tagging is found inside the collar with “2017” and “+5 LENGTH” flap tags. Mahomes did play in Week 17, giving starter Alex Smith a rest before the playoffs, but he wore a different white jersey in that contest. He would have sported this one on the sidelines during a game earlier in the regular season. It shows no game use but does exhibit evidence of being worn, stretched a bit, and slightly frayed from laundering.
