Offered here is a striking ball signed by Hall of Fame Cardinals hurler Jesse Haines, who finished with 210 lifetime victories. Had he not moved to reliever for the latter third of his career, he could have made a run at the elite 300 Win Club. In his 18 years in St. Louis, "Pop" made the most of what was at his disposal. A feared fireballer early in his career, he added a baffling knuckler to his repertoire when his heater began to lose velocity. Haines employed other tools as well, particularly his bat. In Game 3 of the 1926 World Series, not only did he blank the Yankees on five hits, but he aided his own cause with a two-run, fourth-inning homer. (Haines also started and won the decisive Game 7.) A three-time 20-game winner, Haines was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1970.

This off-white ball with light yellow toning has a clean and bold Haines autograph across the sweet spot in 7-8/10 blue ballpoint. According to James Spence Authentication, two signatures (north panel and south panel) have been professionally removed, leaving a confined light brown area in each respective location. These removals do little to diminish the tremendous eye appeal of Haines' signature, allowing it to display as a lovely single. Includes full LOA from JSA.
