The 1992 NBA draft had some of the most exciting talent coming in at the top spots with teams looking for players to change around their franchises. Alonzo Mourning was drafted 2nd overall to the Charlotte Hornets, only behind Shaquille O’Neal. Mourning had an amazing rookie year averaging 21 PPG, 10.3 RPG, and 3.5 BPG, enough for him to make the All-Rookie first team roster. Mourning crafted his game in his first couple of seasons in the league and gained All-Star honors in just his second year. The 7-time All-Star is also a 2x Defensive Player of the Year (‘98-’99 & ‘99-’00) and NBA Champion (2006).

Offered here is a pair of his Nike basketball shoes from his 1996-97 All-Star season. Mourning had an impressive year during 1996-97 as the starting center of the Miami Heat averaging 19.9 PPG, 9.9 RPG and 2.9 BPG. Mourning led the Heat squad to the playoffs alongside Tim Hardaway, only to fall to the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals. The autographed pair of black Nikes are in great condition and are signed on the left side for the left shoe and right side for the right shoe, along with “#33” for Mourning’s number. The top two shoelace holes for each shoe also have a “33” detail, making the shoes unique to Mourning. The signatures are in near mint condition in our opinion. This lot is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA (Certification #: AG01743 & AG01744).
