Full unused ticket from the 1944 World Series, Game 2 at Sportsman’s Park in St. Louis. Graded EX-MT 6 by PSA, this ticket stands alone as the highest rated example. Only one other from this game has been graded (EX 5) and just 13 total fulls from the entire 6-game series have been encapsulated. The Cardinals defeated the Browns in "The St. Louis Showdown" (also called the "Trolley Series" or "Streetcar Series") in a tight series in which four games were decided by two runs or less (the other two games were 4-run margins). In Game 2, the Cards won, 3-2, in extra innings. This was the third and final time that both World Series teams played at the same home field (1921 & '22 at Polo Grounds, Yanks/Giants). The ticket comes in remarkable condition and its 6/10 grade seems rather harsh. The corners, edges and colors are nearly perfect (scratches on holder are visible online).
