William H. “Rube” Foster signed 1977 promissory banknote. Signed “W.H. Foster” in blue ballpoint ink. 4. A significant Hilton Smith typed note to noted Negro League biographer John Holway. Smith’s note offers his consent to join other “black veteran ball players in a court suit against the Hall of Fame to force them to reopen their doors to the black greats before 1947.” The Hilton Smith note includes a full LOA from PSA/DNA (auto.
