It's only fitting that in the same auction Babe Ruth's 500th Home Run Bat is being offered, so is a ball signed by the guy who gave it up. Lot 2 provides all the historical background you will need on Babe's milestone blast. The name Willis Hudlin became etched in baseball history as well, whether he likes it or not. The longtime Cleveland Indians starter threw a second inning fastball that Ruth deposited over the League Park's 40-foot fence down the right-field line and completely out of the stadium.

This OAL (Brown) ball signed by Hudlin on the sweet spot in 6/10 blue ballpoint pen is also inscribed "Babe Ruth's 500th HR Aug. 11, 1929." Ball has very light toning. Accompanying the ball is a handwritten note dated 4/6/94: "Dear Charles: Thanks for the Babe Ruth picture. That picture brings back some fond memories, also some not so fond. With all good wishes, Willis Hudlin." Autographs pre-certified by PSA/DNA.

WILLIS HUDLIN SINGLE SIGNED & INSCRIBED BASEBALL ("BABE RUTHS 500TH HR AUG 11, 1929") AND SELF-DEPRECATING HANDWRITTEN NOTE
