Addendum: Gabriel won MVP in 1969; his helmet (Lot 435) is from that season.

After a standout college career at NC State, quarterback Roman Gabriel had a very successful NFL career spanning 16 seasons, eleven of those with the Los Angeles Rams. He was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1969 and earned Pro Bowl nods in 1967-69, and 1973 when he led the league in passing yards (3,219) for the Philadelphia Eagles. He still holds the Rams franchise record for career touchdown passes (154) and is third in passing yards (22,223). He finished with 201Not bad for an era when teams focused most of their offense on running the football. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and remains one of Canton's biggest snub (along with Jim Plunkett).

This home white pullover garment was worn by Gabriel during the '67 campaign when he threw a career-best 25 TD passes and guided the Rams to a 11-2-1 record and first place finish in the NFL's Coastal division. The jersey features Gabriel's number "18" on the front, back and both sleeves in blue tackle twill. Each shoulder area has a blue accent. Inside the button crotch flap is a Sand-Knit size 46 manufacturer's tag next to a stained white swatch indicating "67" in blue stitching. The classic durene jersey shows heavy wear throughout, with several team repairs and a soiled tone front and back from intense gridiron use. Gabriel has signed the front in 8/10 black marker. Aside from the noted team repairs, the jersey comes all-original as it was issued to Olsen. (NFL records indicate that only three teams -- Rams, Cowboys and Browns -- wore white at home from 1964-69.)

Includes LOA from MEARS with perfect A10 grade, as well as LOAs from JSA (X64743) and Beckett LOA (A52330) for the autograph.
