In 1966, the Los Angeles Dodgers finished the regular season with a record of 97-67, which was good enough for first place in the National League. Once again, they edged out the San Francisco Giants for the top spot, this time by 1.5 games. In the World Series, however, the Dodgers were quickly silenced by the Baltimore Orioles. After dropping the first two games at home, the Dodgers were swept in four games by the O’s. On a personal level, Dodgers righthander Don Drysdale recorded 13 victories that season and struck out 177 opposing batters. He pitched just 273 2/3 innings, his lowest total in five years.
This lot features Drysdale’s 1966 Dodgers home white flannel pants originally sourced from his personal collection. They are tagged properly “Tim McAuliffe Inc.” in the center of the interior waistband with a red “’66” label to its immediate left. Also within the rear interior waistband is the following language chain-stitched in red: “Drysdale 38 33” indicating the player name, waist size and inseam length. All four original white buttons sewn into the fly area remain intact, as do both single buttons sewn into the back pockets. The pants show game use with one noticeable team repair located on the rear left pocket. The original blue elastic belt is also intact. These pants were originally sold in the Don Drysdale Collection that we featured at auction a few years ago.
