Hall of Famer and 5-time batting champion Wade Boggs certainly broke some hearts in Boston when he left the Red Sox for the Evil Empire in 1993. But Yankees fans were quick to warm-up to the Gold Glove caliber third baseman who batted .328 for his career. Boggs swung this Rawlings Adirondack model 456BM professional model bat during the 1997 season. The two-toned ash bat (34.5", 31.5 oz.) is un-cracked and exhibits evidence of excellent use. Several ball marks and ball stitch impressions are visible on the right and front barrel. Ball marks include blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs. There is a light coat of pine tar on the lower and upper handle. The model number (456BM), order number (188) and year (97) are stamped into the knob. Also appearing on the knob is the weight and "Boggs" in blue pen and Boggs' player number (12) written in black marker. Boggs has autographed the barrel in shiny gold marker. Includes LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA graded GU 8.5 (cert. #1B17057). Autograph pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
