What would the Yankees have done without the heroics of David Wells in 1998? The stocky left-hander went 18-4 with an AL-leading 1.04 WHIP and five shutouts highlighted by a Perfect Game pitched under questionable sobriety. In the post-season, Boomer won each of his four starts, including Game 1 of the World Series against the San Diego Padres. The Yank went on to sweep the series.

Presented here is Wells' 1998 World Series Louisville Slugger B349 professional model bat (34.5", 31.5 oz.). Because his only start came at Yankee Stadium where the DH was utilized, the bat did not see any live game action. The ash bat with a cupped end has some bat rack streaks on the barrel and evidence of a few contact marks most likely from batting practice. Scarce World Series gamer from a former Yankee whose brief tenure in pinstripes left an indelible impression.
