In 1962, the year following the unbelievable home run hitting campaign of New York Yankees sluggers Roger Maris (61 round-trippers) and Mickey Mantle (54), the Stellar company released a baseball-themed radio that featured facsimile signatures on its front from the pair of home run hitters. The radio, which measures 7” wide x 4.5” high by 4”deep, features a Yankee batter (complete with the “NY” logo on the left breast of his jersey, along with a bat and baseball used for tuning purposes on the dial. The on/off switch is a green (baseball) diamond with white marking on the four edges to represent three bases and home plate. On the bottom of the facade are the facsimile signatures of the two teammates: Maris on the left, Mantle on the right. A very cleverly designed radio for baseball fans and follower and the on/off switch still works! One of the finer condition specimens we’ve seen.
