Presented here is a phenomenal vintage signed and inscribed example of one the most recognized photos ever shot of "The Commerce Comet." Renowned Yankees team photographer Don Wingfield captured the image at Ebbet's Field on October 6th, just before Game 6 of the 1952 World Series. This seminal Wingfield photo was later used to produce Mantle's 1951 Wheaties premium card.  This dating validates the notion that the Wheaties series was a multi-year issue. The 8" by 10" photo has been inscribed by Mantle, "To Harold - Keep on doing as good as you are and I might give you a raise - Mickey Mantle."  Mantle's black ink writing rates 9/10 in boldness and its styling indicates its vintage matches that of the photograph.  The photograph has been affixed to a thin cardboard backing denying us access to any markings the back of the image might reveal, however, we have every reason to believe this qualifies as a Type 1 photo. The photograph front is NM with no significant vaults. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (AG01422).
