The 1938 New York Yankees completed the regular season with a record of 99–53, winning their 10th American League pennant, finishing 9.5 games ahead of the Boston Red Sox. Playing their home games at Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Bombers nearly cracked the one million mark in attendance with 970,916 loyal fans filling the seats. Managed by Joe McCarthy, the Yankees beat the Chicago Cubs in four consecutive games in the 1938 Fall Classic. This marked the first time any team had ever won three consecutive World Series.

Offered here is an outstanding 8” by 10” team-signed black-and-white photo of the ’38 Yankees. A total of 40 team members are featured including manager Joe McCarthy and owner Jacob Ruppert (standing together at center). The matted photo includes 28 signatures in various shades of black ink including Hall of Fame inductees Lou Gehrig, Red Ruffing, Lefty Gomez, Joe Gordon and the aforementioned McCarthy and Ruppert. The photo has a printed mark “N.Y. Yankees ’38 Thorne” at the lower right corner. A year notation “1938” is written in the upper left area in an unknown hand. Signatures average 7/10 with Gehrig and McCarthy among the best. Photo is matted and framed with a descriptive placard to an overall size of 19” by 22”. Visible area of photo appears NM.
