Dubbed "Muddy" as a child, Herold Ruel embarked on a 20-year baseball career (1915-1934), during which time he served admirably as a catcher for seven different major league teams. Ruel's tremendous baseball relevance includes being the catcher behind the plate for Ray Chapman's fatal beaning and Ruth's sixtieth home run of 1927, and as the man who scored the 1924 World Series-winning run for the Senators. This is a great trio of original photos featuring Ruel as a member of the Yankees (1917-20) highlighted by a 6-1/2” by 9-3/4” beauty by Charles Conlon. Also included are a pair of 6-1/2” by 8-1/2” International News photos. Average EX condition.
