ADDENDUM: The autograph and inscription were graded 8 by PSA/DNA.

One glance at the offered photograph immediately evokes the aura of one of card collecting's all-time classics. Lou Gehrig’s graphically identical card #92 and #160 entries in the landmark 1933 Goudey series represent one of the hobby’s most enduring and recognizable images of "The Iron Horse." The basis of that image was a photograph captured by the lens of the most renowned baseball photographer of his time, Charles Conlon.

Presented here is a stunning 8” by 10” Lou Gehrig original Type I photo by Charles Conlon that closely matches the image used to produce his 1933 Goudey cards. The most subtle of differences between Gehirg’s stance and bat position in this image relative to the card suggests this was taken within a frame or two of the final image selected for production. Adding to the allure of this iconic image is the addition of Gehrig’s fountain pen inscription, “To Eddie, With Kindest Personal Regards, Cordially, Lou Gehrig.” The elegant autograph and inscription has received a NM-MT 8/10 grade from PSA/DNA and is ideally placed for maximum aesthetic quality. The blank-backed photo is in outstanding EX/EX-MT condition. A treasure of a collectible, transecting multiple hobby genres at the highest level.

Encapsulated by PSA/DNA for both the Type I photo and autograph (Grade 8). LOA from Henry Yee of PSA/DNA.
