ADDENDUM: Upated lot heading from catolog.

In conjunction with Lot 235 comes this comprehensive newspaper scrapbook chronicling the Brooklyn Dodgers triumph in the 1955 World Series over the Yankees. It was compiled and nearly put together by a local deli owner, who scrupulously cut out several dozen clippings from all the New York papers in this 12” by 16” red album. The consignor’s father pieced together highlights of the classic 7-game series from seemingly every local daily publication: Herald Tribune, Post, Daily News, Daily Tribune, etc.

Major headlines from Oct.5, the day after the Dodgers clinched it in Game 7, such as “WHO’S A BUM” from the Daily News and “PODRES! (Need We Say More)” from the Post are includes among the 20-page album. Many images show players and team members in celebration mode. There’s even some personal shots of players with their family. The deli owner was especially close with Carl Erskine, and a shot of Carl with his family at the end is a nice finishing touch.

Each clipping is glued to a large background page using the front and back. A few are laminated including a cut-out of a 1955 Dodgers team photo. Having endured 64 years of aging and use, the string binding now requires tape, but the individual newspaper pages are intact, aside from heavy edge and corner wear and torn remnants.
