Joe DiMaggio’s marriage to Marilyn Monroe was an amazing coupling of American celebrity: The country's most revered athlete hitched to its most adored actress. They married on January 14, 1954 and chose to honeymoon in Japan with Joe’s mentor Frank "Lefty" O’Doul and his wife Jean. During the trip Monroe took a detour to Korea for a few days to entertain US troops. There was this conversation when she returned to their honeymoon suite in Tokyo after entertaining more than 100,000 servicemen in Korea: "It was so wonderful, Joe," she said. "You never heard such cheering." "Yes I have," he said, quietly. DiMaggio. They divorced just nine months later. DiMaggio’s love for Monroe never abated and her untimely death in 1962 took a devastating toll on the baseball legend.
DiMaggio/Monroe dual-signed items are incredibly scarce and highly coveted in the hobby today. This postcard from the "Ming Room" in Los Angeles features the pair’s signatures in bold ballpoint on the reverse. DiMaggio has added a personalization above his autograph with Marilyn’s large looping signature below. Each signature is 8/10 or better. The postcard exhibits tape stains at two corners not affecting the writing. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Authentic.
