The 2001 season saw Cal Ripken, Jr. putting the finishing touches on his Hall of Fame career. The arduous journey he began on August 10, 1981 came to a conclusion with an October 1-6, 2001 home stand at Camden Yards. To commemorate the Ironman’s long and glorious career and his importance to the Orioles, the team produced a special on-deck circle used specifically for his last games in Baltimore. The custom on-deck circle measures approximately five feet in diameter and a 1/4" thick, weighing 24 pounds, with Cal’s soon-to-be-retired number “8” in Oriole black and orange. The batting circle shows tremendous game use with a little cracking and some expected scuffs and abrasions to its rubber surface. Getty 595336 shows an similar example used in the O's second-to-last homestand (which sold at auction for $2,183 in 2003). A very unique memento of the last days of Cal’s 21-year career. MLB Auth. hologram #GT035052 attests to its authenticity.

Shipping note: The on-deck circle rolls up in a compact box that does not require freight. Transport is less than expected.
