After leading the NCAA in scoring and being named College Player of the Year in each of his three varsity seasons, Oscar Robertson took his talent overseas and led USA Basketball to gold medal glory at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. In the middle of his Rookie of the Year campaign in the NBA, The Big O was awarded this Sterling silver presentation plate "For Meritorious Service To The University of Cincinnati By Participation In The 1960 Olympic Games February 18, 1961" as the inscription reads. Hallmarked "Alvin Sterling S100" on the reverse, the plate measures 12" in diameter and weighs 19.5 oz. Showing several scratches and smudge marks from handling and age, it still presents well and comes with an LOA from Oscar Robertson himself.

PLEASE NOTE: Oscar will donate a portion of his auction proceeds to the Jerome Lipper Multiple Myeloma Center and LeBow Institute for Myeloma Therapeutics at Dana Farber. This renowned cancer treatment center “provides comprehensive care to patients with multiple myeloma, including promising new therapies through clinical trials rooted in an approach that brings laboratory discoveries quickly to the clinical setting” (https://www.dana-farber.org/multiple-myeloma-program).
