The New York Yankees dominated the competition in 1932, winning 107 games and losing just 47 in the regular season before sweeping the Cubbies in the Fall Classic for their fourth World Series title to date. This squad featured a record nine Hall of Famers on its roster: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Bill Dickey, Lefty Gomez, Earle Combs, Herb Pennock, Red Ruffing and Joe Sewell, all of whom have signed this OAL (Harridge) baseball. Other notable autographs include Frank Crosetti, Ben Chapman, Walter Brown, Myril Hoag, Wilcy Moore, George Pipgras, John Allen, Sam Byrd, Charlie Devens, Ed Wells, Doc Farrell, Arndt Jorgens, Lyn Lary, and Danny McFayden. (Wells and Hoag were not on '33 team.) A total of 23 autographs cover the well-toned and scuffed ball, which looks like it may have seen some game action. There is no shellac coating, which may explain why most of the black ink signatures have faded to 3-5/10 strength. Ruth (5/10) signed on the sweet spot, with Gerhrig (4-5/10) just to the right on the east panel.

As a bonus, the ball comes with a 1930 Yankees Opening Day rain check ticket stub taped to a April 14, 1931 Yankees Stadium Opening Day invitation for "Mr. Wellington". This was artist and dear friend of Babe Ruth, Duke Wellington. According to the consignor's father, it was through Mr. Wellington that this ball was signed and acquired.
