Royalty in the field of card collecting, Mickey Mantle’s 1952 Topps issue is the most recognized and coveted post-war baseball card. Next to the T206 Honus Wagner, its stands as the icon of the hobby. Rightly, in the sub-category of autographed baseball cards this is among the hobby’s crown jewels. While the offered card warrants a technical grade of PR-FR due to corner wear and creasing, that rating does not begin to define the outstanding overall visual impact of the piece.  The card’s key visual elements such as centering, vibrant color and registration combined with a flawless and ideally placed signature make for an outstanding aesthetic presentation.  Mantle’s blue sharpie autographed has been assessed as a flawless GEM MINT 10 example by PSA/DNA and has been encapsulated as such. The hobby has seen an awakening in recent years to the rarity, nuance and character of autographed cards, and this offering is sure to contribute to the trajectory of the marketplace.
