Besides a prolific professional playing career with the Minneapolis Lakers, Basketball Hall of Fame center George Mikan also served as the original league commissioner for the American Basketball Association (ABA) from 1967 to ’69. Sporting the official colors of the ABA, this red, white and blue Rawlings 'RSS' Official ABA basketball has a machine-printed signature of Mikan in black just underneath the ABA callout on the front white panel. The leather basketball, which shows some toning based on its age (the league disbanded in 1976), is a rare and coveted keepsake from a bygone era.
