Presented here is an Olympic torch used in the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games relay. The aluminum torch is approximately 23 inches in length and was designed with a brass finish and leather handle. Etched on the top section of the torch is the Olympic motto, "Citius, Altius, Fortius", with the Olympic rings between each word. A lovely raised depiction of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum surrounds the exterior of the main bowl. A large brass ring interrupts the higher end of the leather handle with the engraving, "Games of the - XXIIIrd Olympiad - Los Angeles 1984." The knob end of the handle has a brass cap is at the end of the torch stamped with the 1984 Summer Olympics emblem. The torch shows obvious usage with signs of combustion on the top section and some rusting on the brass knob and outer bowl. Unlike almost every 1984 L.A. torch you will find in the hobby, this one still has its used wick and burner section. It is accompanied by its original black leather vinyl carrying case emblazoned with the 1981 Summer Games logo.
