After winning four Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers, hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky migrated south to play for the Los Angeles Kings. He would play seven seasons in L.A. and help the Kings reach the Stanley Cup Finals during the 1992-93 campaign. This lot features Gretzky's 1991-92 autographed L.A. Kings professional model road jersey.
The black 100% polyester jersey (size 54) has silver and white trim and includes the "Maska" tag on the inner rear collar. Gretzky's Captain "C" patch is located on the left shoulder, while the chest is sporting the oversized Kings crown logo and the right shoulder is adorned with the "75 NHL" patch. The left sleeve has a specially embroidered L.A. Kings purple "The Silver Season" 25th Anniversary patch on it. On the back of the jersey in giant silver on black on white tackle twill is the Great One's iconic uniform number "99" as well as his last name "GRETZKY." There are double "CCM" and "NHL" embroidered patches across the rear waist area. His uniform number "99" appears embroidered in silver on the inside of the rear waist area. Gretzky signed the second "9" on the back of the jersey in black fine-point marker and added "99" after his signature. This is a jersey that reflects a season in which Gretzky won his third of four Lady Bing Memorial trophies which is awarded each season to the player who "exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability."
